Voice over IP

Being sick of cell phone companies, I signed up with Vonage today. The new number is 512-828-7363 — indeed, I finally have an Austin area code.

I haven't had a chance to plug a phone into it and test it out yet, so I can't comment on the quality. However, it will certainly be better than my cell phone.

Update: I bought a Vtech 2.4ghz phone (actually, it came with two phones) and it works pretty well. There is some static on the line, but I think it's being caused by WLAN interference, or it could just be a crappy phone. Everyone says the sound quality on their end is excellent. In my attempts to max out my bandwidth and increase lag, I ended up crashing Firefox before the VOIP started to get scrambled.
