Goodbye Time Warner, Hello Grande
Due to the highly publicized change to a metered service over at Time Warner Cable, I’ve made the switch to Grande Communications.
While calling to tell TW about it, I was told by the customer service rep that the change was..
“Something to do with the government wanting to keep business users off of home entertainment hubs and onto their own private business hub. Too many Time Warner customers were running their own search engines at home.”
When I explained that I was not a search engine company, just a web developer, he still compared it to running my own Google server at home, and that I shouldn’t bother switching networks, because, “Grande was planning to do the same thing — if they manage to stay around for another year.”
It was an interesting spin on, “we want to make more money by screwing over our customers.”
