Everything looks like a bomb these days...

The world is now as aware of Boston’s paranoia over some simple boxes as it was of the 9/11 attacks. Nice job, Mayor Menino.

After seeing some of the news coverage however, I think the media shares a great deal of the blame as well. Reporting the Lite-Brite style displays as “suspicious packages” hidden under bridges, near hospitals and subways is similar to the old cliche of shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater.

It’s incredibly sad to see that public art—advertisement or not—can cause such a disturbance. If this is what the government’s “War on Terror” is going to bring us, then what else is left for the so-called terrorists to do?
